A powerful husband, a cheating wife and a jealous lover, all having a motive for murder. This remake of Hitchcock thriller Dial “M” for Murder, stars Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo Mortensen.
Wall Street titan Steven Taylor (Douglas) seems like a devoted husband. He isn’t. Beautiful Emily Bradford Taylor (Gwyneth Paltrow) seems like a faithful wife. She isn’t. And when Steven hires Emily’s lover to kill her, it seems like A Perfect Murder. It isn’t. In fact, little is what it seems in this sleek thriller.
I was surprised with how much I got into this film, it grips you right from the word go, and with lots of suspense it is surprisingly worthy of it’s original. That is until the ending, recently I’ve noticed this with a lot of films, how the ending completely destroys a thoroughly enjoyable film up until then.
Alas “A Perfect Murder” did a Hollow Man, so to speak, completely ruining the entire film with a completely far-fetched ending that tidies everything up in a nice little package. Live is never that perfect.
