Who doesn’t love pinball? I know everyone in the Nerdscoop team certainly does, because this Microsoft technical demonstration put together to showcase the power of both HTML5 and CSS3 is the latest Indie Thing to become incredibly addictive around the office.
This HTML5 pinball game was no doubt created primarily to show off Internet Explorer’s latest capabilities, but from our tests it seems to work in all of the most up-to-date browsers on both Windows and Mac OS. If this is any indication of what we can expect from the future of the web, then count me in!
So without further ado I present to you the ridiculously addictive Canvas Pinball, courtesy of the boys over in Seattle. The game uses the latest CSS canvas technology, so make sure you have the latest version of your browser; we have tested the game on Firefox 10, Internet Explorer 9, Chrome 17, and Safari 5.1.2 to positive results.
In our experiences, all the modern browsers handle the demo perfectly. Firefox seems to be a little slower than the others, but for all intents and purposes everything runs accurately and fairly smoothly. HTML5 Pinball is a winner in our eyes!
