EA DICE were absolutely determined to outdo their previous effort in this miniseries, 2015’s Battlefront, and we reckon they succeeded by a fairly wide margin. For starters, Star Wars Battlefront II features a single player campaign mode with an expansive story, something with the former title lacked, which chronicles various important events in the 30 year lead up to The Force Awakens, as seen through the eyes of Inferno Squad leader Iden Versio. In addition, however, it has a fully-loaded online multiplayer mode jam packed with content: there’s numerous characters from throughout the franchise to play as- with Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo on the hero side and Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Boba Fett on the villain side as just a few examples available at launch- and more are to come in the future! Locations, setpieces, vehicles and weapons from throughout the prequel films, original series, and the new sequel films are also included, guaranteed to whet the appetite of any Star Wars super-fan. Perhaps most exciting, though, is the fact that though the game will run DLC using a seasonal structure, a lot of the DLC will be completely free, significantly lowering the barrier for entry.
