Former Krimson City Police Department operative Sebastian Castellanos has had an awful lot to deal with in the three years since the Beacon Mental Hospital incident. The disappearance of his wife Myra, the death of his daughter Lily in a house fire, and the unspeakable horrors inflicted upon he and his team mates by Ruvik have left him with one heck of a drinking problem.
The lack of leads in his personal investigation into the organisation at the heart of the horrors he faced, Mobius, probably isn’t helping. His luck changes- though arguably not wholly for the better- when he’s approached by his former partner and Mobius Agent Julie Kidman one night at a bar. She reveals to him that Lily’s death was fact and that she is, in fact, still alive; she’s being used as the core for one of their new STEM Systems, an idyllic town by the name of Union.
Unfortunately, as things are wont to do in the world of The Evil Within, horror and bloodshed have descended on the once peaceful Union, and Lily is in need of rescuing; Sebastian begrudgingly allows himself to be transported into the system, as a new web of conspiracies and contrivances unfold around him- along with several bodies and vital organs.
