After languishing in the realm of “cult classics” and “forgotten curiosities” for so long, Monolith Soft’s Xeno franchise has finally seen some mainstream acceptance and acclaim with the introduction of the Xenoblade metaseries, which has only gone from strength to strength since the original game’s release in 2010. As with prior games bearing the moniker, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 takes place in an entirely new universe from the previous titles and features a brand new cast of characters. The central story revolves around the dying remnants of a once prosperous civilisation, which now survives in settlements atop the backs of great beasts that swim through an endless sea of clouds. It focuses specifically on Rex and Lyra, two individuals dead set on finding a place called Elysium; an eternal paradise and humanity’s last sanctuary in these dying days.
With the series’ trademark Action RPG gameplay backing the intricate story, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 promises to be an unforgettable experience!
